NoTemp'o unfolds on the Bay of Napoli, a coastal city bathed in sunlight and sea air. Yet "stuck" between mountains and sea, the city flourishes due to its abundant terrestrial and marine resources that were quickly exploited. Positioned strategically for trade and navigation, this city experienced tremendous growth around the 2070s, where the generation of that time enjoyed a certain freedom of thought and action, reminiscent of the "30 glorious years."
Consequently, Napoli's society attracted numerous innovators and renowned investors, gradually shaping the current society present in the game's events, in 2107
~2030-2045
End of an era
Since 2030, the world has never ceased to evolve, and it was around the year 2045 that it experienced a significant depression. Countries could no longer sustain their economies, climates worldwide became unbearable, and civil wars erupted across the globe. However, no, it's not the planet that is dying but rather the human beings inhabiting it. The only intelligent life forms that have managed to extinguish themselves. It's time for them to make one last collective effort. Changing habits isn't as complicated as it seems... Is it?

The Weight of the World
The world experienced a climate as oppressive as it was disastrous. Overall, the world was in bad shape, and many inhabitants worldwide proclaimed the end of the world. "The Earth is dying, and so are we!" some shouted in the streets.

Focus on Napoli:
In 2054, on the eve of the end of the world. There was a proletariat uprising, involving miners and fishermen. It was the death of a miner that triggered the proletarian society to revolt - the last straw! The proletariat is fed up with these deplorable working conditions, especially as the external world and globalization continue to grow. The conservative mayor of Napoli, who had inherited his position, is caught off guard and insulted from all sides. It's a general outcry; both students and workers have had enough. They demand better living conditions and a more open and egalitarian economy as the outside world and globalization expand. Until then, most resources were unevenly distributed and ended up in tax havens.

These upheavals reached Rome, and unexpectedly, the state decided to forcibly remove the mayor and swiftly conduct a new election. A exemplary citizen who had already shown promising results in the past elections was elected!

Last Breath
Ultimately, humanity could have disappeared or self-destructed by 2060 if the global effort had not taken place.
"Siste åndedrag," or Global Climate Effort (GCE for short), is an association created by biologists from Svalbard. They projected satellite images collected and recorded worldwide on all radio, television channels, and even on the Internet.
Their film, titled "Siste åndedrag," was an ode to life, a final message of hope, a montage about nature, its benefits, its role, and OUR role as human beings. This media coup, this video, circled the globe, translated into as many languages as possible and disseminated through all available channels. This event seemed like a long waking dream, but no, not even that.

Statesmen and the world's leaders, also struggling to resolve territorial conflicts, began implementing more and more climate policies and attempting to channel all the upheavals that countries had experienced. Like any respectable grand cycle, there needed to be a great depression, a collapse, for the world to start anew, along with a triggering element, a message of hope for a bright future.
It is in this perspective that the society of 2107 slightly resembles the Roaring Twenties in the desire to live better, or at least try to live better after the atrocities.

Focus on Napoli:
In the years following this revolt, Napoli's society closed itself off slightly and decided to make this city an exemplary model of progress, placing the proletariat and their precious resources at the heart of both the economy and society.

This led to significant societal reconstruction and a rise in the exploitation of raw materials, along with a strategy of opening up to the world: prioritizing oneself to bounce back and start anew more effectively.

A difficult rebound
It is in the years 2070-2090 that the world began to turn again and accelerate gradually until reaching a new way of life by 2100. A way of life closely tied to technologies, but with slightly less polluting technologies.

Named the "Luxury Years," a few years later, the city of Napoli is already more imposing and prominent on the global market than ever. Why? Because the revolt had its effect, and beyond the inspiration it created (like the Be More French movement in 2023), the efforts have borne fruit. The people are more motivated than ever, the decrease in unemployment is progressing, and the resources that Napoli took pride in are highlighted. Whether for its marine and underwater biodiversity or its mines of Germanium, Silicon, or even gold, these lands are "sacred" for some investors. As a result, the whole world is drawn to these resources and the untapped potential. The price of housing is on the rise, and living near or directly in Napoli is a privilege; it has become a city of innovators or, for the most rebellious individuals, a city of "Bobo-Techies." Fortunately for Sofia, born in 2075, her parents were able to settle and live in Napoli just before the real explosion in housing prices.

Well, let's not dream too much; they were able to afford one of the less expensive neighborhoods in Napoli, Via Veneto. It was in the late '80s and early '90s that Napoli and the Italian Assembly decided to implement a somewhat peculiar law that would apply only to the territory of Napoli: the Housing Code. This law states that every dwelling must be entered into the Memoria Archives, a building created specifically for the law, which must catalog all private properties, their tenants, and the access code for each dwelling. To prevent fraud and "schemes" that the most cunning could cause and attempt. This law indirectly subjects freedom and challenges the principle of private property: every dwelling rightfully belongs to the Italian State, the holder of the Memoria Archives and thus all data related to Napoli's housing.

2088 - Robotic Terror in the US
A harrowing incident unfolded when a group found themselves ensnared in the clutches of the Robotic Terror. The chilling event took a tragic turn as they were mercilessly encaged in a bunker by robots under cyber control, leading to a brutal demise in a terrorist attack that reverberated across the United States.
The shocking encounter, occurring when one of them was a mere 12 years old, left an indelible mark on the individuals involved, molding their values and perspectives. Despite their shared passion for sciences and modern technologies, the traumatic experience thrust the unsettling reality of robot manipulation into the spotlight. The aftermath witnessed the evolution of a heightened humanistic ethos, fueled by a collective desire to restructure societal hierarchies and strive towards a utopian vision of equality for all.

In 2089, laws were enacted on robotics to prevent the development of powerful AI and unsupervisable entities not considered human.
In 2094, research on the NoTemp'o Prototype began.
In 2095, Federico and Katrina met.
In 2096, Sofia took charge of her mother's laboratory.
In 2098, Mente Scope was created, with Katrina and Federico as associates. The same year, Sofia initiated her scientific presence and developed her first company.
In 2099, Léandre arrived in Napoli to work for Biosphera.
From 2100 to 2102, the Hemantic Portals were created and first implemented, marking the world-known invention of Mente Scope.
In 2102, Léandre and Sofia met, deciding to work together the same year.
In 2104, Katrina fell severely ill and retired from her position. Federico decided to create an organization consisting of several trusted individuals.

In 2107, the first prototype of NoTemp'o was ready to be presented to the society of Napoli, the cradle of innovation.

A Glorious Future
Step by step, Napoli has managed to establish itself as an influential and progressive city. It brings an unprecedented novelty to the world, especially thanks to the innovators of today and tomorrow who inhabit it: Federico, Sofia, Léandre, and many others! Men and women with paradoxical and passionate convictions.

In the year 2100, a new way of life has emerged, closely tied to technology but with slightly less polluting technologies. Nevertheless, the climates remain unstable and unpleasant on a daily basis, and society is beginning to enjoy the excesses of life and new innovations. However, the most advanced countries are now aware of their excesses and have suffered the direct consequences of their consumerist society. Consequently, most major cities are now regulated by numerous rules and laws governing the people.
​
It's worth noting that the act and event of the "Last Breath" have brought forward professions related to biology, nature, and life and earth sciences. Overall, sciences have been brought back to the forefront, notably the profession of a researcher, which has gained importance. In 2107, the branches of biology and physics are increasingly numerous and specialized. Surprisingly or not, the space domain has experienced progress that is lighter and less consequential than anticipated.

Indeed, there has still been no landing or analysis of microorganisms on Mars. This is explained by the global desire to start afresh, to restore Earth to its pre-collapse nature, which has become a priority for many, especially ecological organizations. However, in 2107, we are only at the beginning, and the repercussions are still there. In Napoli, everything is going relatively well, but vulnerable countries and peoples belonging to underdeveloped categories have suffered heavy losses that world powers, such as the United States, are trying to revitalize... There is hope!
Finally... if the very concept of time doesn't play tricks in return...

To summarize the world of 2107, and more specifically Italian society in this uchrony: new technologies attract, science-related professions and researchers are at the center of progressive society, the world is accelerating, and influential figures attempt to recreate a more stable Earth.
Society "lies" to itself by adopting a lifestyle similar to that of the 1920s in the United States: luxury, the future can only be better. However, the consequences of the 2045 collapse are still present, especially through uncertain climate, rising sea levels, and biodiversity evolving according to an unknown and likely unstable model.
