Sofia De Rosa - The Protagonist

Background

Sofia was born on September 10, 2075, making her 32 years old at the time of the NoTemp'o events. She is the protagonist of the story, born and raised in Napoli.

She has always been immersed in the field of science and new technologies; her life has revolved around it. Her parents were innovators themselves, well-known ones at that. They always wanted her to work in this field and change the world. Being natural optimists, Sofia's parents believed it was possible to create a stable and perfect society by developing the right tools and using them wisely. However, this changed when Sofia's father was crushed and engulfed by a Ferossa Mining drill. While on an expedition to analyze new rare metals, a young apprentice made a fatal mistake, venturing into one of the mines and taking the life of the innovative father.

After this tragedy, both mother and daughter were completely shaken. They spent a few years rebuilding in Greece before returning to Napoli just before the influx of new investors and innovators. This surge in scientific advancement would have greatly pleased Sofia's father. Now convinced of her path—innovation, exploration, and pushing boundaries to create a more stable and secure world—Sofia, who had known a tranquil life before her father's death, now understood the harsh realities of the world.

Encouraged by these challenges, she, at the age of 14 in 2089, enrolled in intensive courses at the University of Quantum Physics and Mechanics in Rome. Seven years later, in 2096, she returned to Napoli and took over her mother's laboratory.

Sofia's parents had her relatively late in life, causing her mother to age and be unable, both physically and willingly, to continue working in an energy-intensive research laboratory. Their lab developed advanced mechanical devices for in-depth and precise soil analysis.

In 2098, Sofia's mother stopped working, and Sofia took the lead. She wanted to create her own invention, her own prototype, to be recognized and finally achieve what she had always wanted: to help make this decadent world a bit more stable.

Meeting

Sofia, since her mother's resignation, embarked on an expedition and a relentless search for information, attending conferences and meeting numerous innovators and creators.

During an event organized by Biosphera for one of their many discoveries, Sofia came face to face with a certain Leandre... A handsome young man of her age, passionate about sciences but also about philosophical concepts that no longer interest anyone; reality, being, beauty, etc. According to him, these are the things that bring us closest to nature and ourselves, the ability to think and ask questions that don't need answers.

Sofia had an immediate crush when he took the stage to address his theme that evening: "Abyssal Reality and Natural Ideal." She devoured each of his words with passion and intent, unsure if she was listening to understand the words or simply savoring them.

In the blink of an eye, the floor was given to the next speaker, and Leandre was by her side, asking if she had enjoyed his speech and topic. Not knowing what to say, Sofia remained stoic and let out a shy smile. Leandre didn't hold it against her; he simply laughed. As he walked away, gesturing with his head, Sofia grabbed him by the arm and began to articulate complex, intelligent phrases related to the subjects that fascinated both souls.

This led to intricate yet fascinating discussions between two complementary individuals who seemed to be waiting for one thing: to find someone who could finally understand them. That night, they each went home, and talked all night about nature, scientific concepts, and philosophy. Sofia couldn't believe it; she had found the right person, and she didn't want to let him go. Leandre, on the other hand, was completely bewildered... His heart had never beaten so fast and so strongly.

They arranged to meet on the beach the next day for a calmer and more composed conversation. On that day, on the shores of Mare Solar, Sofia confessed to him that she wanted to work with him on her secret project. She explained her thoughts and ideas. Leandre froze and delved into his inner self; he had just made the most beautiful of encounters. A passionate, fascinating woman with righteous ideals. He accepted on the spot. The next day, he arrived at Sofia's laboratory, and they began their research.

Leandre had hastily left his job at Biosphera to focus entirely on the emerging idea, NoTemp'o. For 8 years, they spent their days working together, questioning whether the world around them really existed. It seemed to satisfy and suffice for them, as time passed quickly; they had built their habits, ways of seeing the world, moved into their apartment on Via Veneto, and formed a circle of friends who motivated them every day to move forward.

During these years, in 2106, Sofia's mother left Napoli to join Greece and enjoy a well-deserved retirement.

Present and Reality

Sofia and Léandre had brought into the world their most beautiful "baby," the NoTemp'o. They spent several months contemplating its subject and how to showcase it, how to present it to the world in a way that wouldn't create too much discord.

Eventually, they reached a conclusion, and they were ready to present it to the Council of Sciences and Innovations. Unfortunately, the trigger for the game's story occurred, and Léandre disappeared suddenly, along with their famous research on the NoTemp'o prototype.

This leads to the events of the game's story. Ultimately, Sofia won't have had an exemplary life— a deceased father, a thrilling life full of emotions, and a more than bitter outcome. To leave the world she knows, or to stay and rectify the mistakes of the past but never see her beloved Léandre again.
