Marco Livio - The Gentle

Background

Marco Livio is a 27-year-old Italian man, born on December 12, 2079, in Rome. He spent his entire childhood in Anguillara Sabazia before returning to the capital for his high school studies.

After earning his high school diploma with honors, he continued his education at the University of Quantum Physics and Mechanics in Rome. He eventually pursued a master's degree in cosmology and astrophysics at Padua.

​

It was in Rome that he made one of his best encounters, the fabulous Sofia De Rosa. Both passionate about physics, they complemented each other through their uniqueness. Marco is an enthusiast of stars, planets, and satellites. When they meet, they can't even count the number of times Marco has argued alone for hours about the habitability potential of planets in the solar system.

The discovery of microorganisms living under the icy crust of Europa, one of Jupiter's moons, probably made Marco's tongue turn a thousand times.

Over these three years, Marco and Sofia had fun, went out dancing in nightclubs with their classmates, but, most importantly, they talked a lot, especially over beers near the Rome observatory. For Marco, it was the ideal spot, a place to talk without too many people around, avoid large gatherings and demonstrations due to numerous exoduses, and simply an escape with a direct view of the starry tableau offered by the night sky.

In Rome, assuming curfew wasn't too early, because how can you see stars and distinguish Orion from Cassiopeia if light pollution joins the party?

During his studies in Rome, Marco loved talking about Sofia to his parents, expressing how happy he was to have found someone like her. As usual, Marco's father teased him and tried to extract information about a possible romance. But Marco had absolutely no desire nor any ambiguity. These remarks embarrassed him, and fortunately, his mother was there to support him. She was a seamstress and always took great care to dress Marco stylishly, facing numerous derogatory remarks that constantly questioned the young boy's sexuality. Even Marco's father had doubts, but he dared not confront it. The father had never seen beyond his Italian ice cream shop on the quay and had no intention to.

In any case, Marco had none of those ideas in mind. His, it was in the stars, far beyond the Oort Cloud. And that's what makes Marco so special; he has never been interested in anything other than astronomy and stars. During the long winter nights, he spent time with his grandmother on her boat, anchoring in the middle of Lago Di Bracciano, and observing the stars. It was she who instilled in him a love for the stars and imparted knowledge of the sky. She told him she was an astronomer and had participated in the construction of the old version of the ISS. Even today, since his grandmother's death, Marco has never dared to ask for an explanation or know the truth about his grandmother. It contributed to her beauty and the legacy she left him.

Without her, he wouldn't be where he is. Not that Marco's parents aren't interesting, but they don't seek to see beyond Italy and its surroundings. In contrast to Marco, who feels free only when his head is in the clouds and among the stars.

Finally, after his 3 years of study in Rome and his meeting with Sofia, he had the courage to continue his studies and pursue his dreams. He studied at Padua for his Master of Science in Astrophysics and Cosmology, which he once again obtained with honors. As a result, he received a scholarship that allowed him to go directly to the United States to study astronomy and astrophysics in Los Angeles around the year 2104.

Disillusionment

In 2104, Marco takes off and heads to conquer America with his Master of Science. He is eager to start his work at the state laboratory and observatory in California.

Full of hope and dreams, the first few months go wonderfully. His team is fantastic, he attends numerous conferences, and he is in charge of highly confidential projects.

Moreover, it is related to space exploration and the upcoming missions involving black holes and white holes. He is literally over the moon and can implement all the skills he has accumulated so far at the university and during his numerous training and observation internships.

​

However, on an ordinary work morning, an emergency meeting erupts. All American funds related to the mission on which Marco was working have been diverted to a mission considered more urgent and important: the Neptune exploration mission! As a scientist and enthusiast, he could only rejoice at such news, but there is no one to share it with and especially to benefit from it. The disillusionment lies in the fact that the funds were dedicated to paying the employees of the Black Hole White Hole mission; consequently, Marco and all his close colleagues are relieved of their duties.

In less than a year, Marco had touched upon his dream. Patient by nature and with great composure, changing his life and living his dream only to return to Italy "with his tail between his legs" had earned him a scolding from his superiors.

He will probably regret it until the end of time, as he is accustomed to questioning everything. Not the slightest of his actions escapes his self-examination.

Finally, in 2105, he is forced to return to Italy, to his good old village of Anguillara Sabazia.

Renewal

This abrupt change rekindled his connection with Sofia, whom he had lost sight of during those active years. They took the time, once again, to discuss a lot and share their new research and thoughts. Sofia suggested many times that he come to settle in Napoli and join this innovative society. Marco needed time to rebuild after this disillusionment, but he had no time, and even less motivation, to waste.

​

So, in the same year, 2105, he managed to join Biosphera to work in a new branch of the company. A branch related to space and dark matter, with the aim of understanding every part of the universe a little better and the role this peculiar "matter" plays biologically. Marco met many interesting and exciting people. He felt like a fish in water at Biosphera! A year later, and after quickly proving himself, Federico called on him as part of a particular "Organization." According to the latter, it would allow missions in space at a lower cost. Well, that's what he said. Federico mainly wanted to call on many loyal and trustworthy people to restore the image of Mente Scope and its human capabilities. Even if it meant manipulating or lying, as long as Federico could get the right people at the right time!

Marco accepted without hesitation and was more than intrigued. In the meantime, being part of this organization allowed him to learn more about Mente Scope and their transport technologies and to give private lessons on quantum physics, light, and astrophysics at the Marine Biology University of Napoli.

He quickly earned a good position, and his talent and hard work once again earned him the honors and praises of his students, colleagues, and high-ranking members of the Order of Dogmatic Sciences.

Marco Livio is a good man who remains faithful to his values and principles. He is proud of what he is becoming, but above all, he hopes that he will be able to participate in the creation of a satellite heading towards the Oort Cloud, an unusual meeting point where someone he loves more than anything awaits him there...
